From Ireland to England and so much more.

It's international day! I love this day because we get to change up the day a little and learn about where some of our staff come from.  We went all the way to England today to learn about rugby and cheese wheel races. Sarah dressed very Irish and came to London with us to talk about how their Rugby is better than England  rugby! Chris and Eb who teach Activities, movement, and dance, and health and fitness were our teachers for today's visit to England. The video about cheese wheel races was so funny. We even learned an England chant so if we ever do see a rugby match we know what to yell. International day was so much fun, I'm glad that we get to learn about where some of our favorite counsellors are from.

Bingo!

Graham and Scott joined in with groups 7 and 8 and took part in a Pioneering lesson. Colleen put together an awesome activity, we listened to sounds and looked at pictures of animals to try and win at bingo pioneering style! We learned what a sparrow sounds like and looked at pictures of exotic animals such as peacocks prairie dogs.  It was such a fun activity on a nice and sunny day. Thanks Colleen!

Aye Aye Captain

We do a lot of activities here at camp, but my favorite is boating. What I like about boating is going out on the pontoon boat. Sometimes we go out to try and find some turtles on the lake. Other times we go out to try a catch some fish. Along with the power boat we also take out the row boats. I like going out on the row boats because sometimes they let me row! I like to be the fastest rower to get back to shore before the activity ends.

Graham's Back!!!

I've been away from camp for 3 weeks now and I am so excited to be back for my last session this summer!  The apprentice team is 5 men strong and our coaches Jesse and Emily are back for two more weeks of awesomeness! We just finished a great breakfast of bagels with cream cheese and oatmeal with blueberries and fresh cantaloupe too! My first stop after breakfast was to my favorite place at camp... The swimming pool! While I was there, Jillian a lifeguard, and Rohan an apprentice doing the pool assistant job found a frog in the filter! Don't worry we set it free. That's all for now.

Big Accomplishment at Horses

I did horses on Monday and I was a little nervous at first, but then I really liked it. I was scared to get on and ride, but I got over my fear and ended up  having a lot of fun. The staff at horses were really nice, and they let me ride two horses named Buddy and Freckles. I’m so glad I did it! I  was  very  proud  of  myself  that  I  went  on  a  horse.
Horses are not the only animals that I take care of at camp. I also get to walk with Harvey or give him treats when he does a trick!

My favorite activity at camp is Arts on Monday .I like to do this activity because I can be creative and then take whatever I make home with me after camp ends. Meeting new friends is also one of my favorite things at camp.

I also love my cabin with all of my friends! We really enjoy helping each other and hanging out during our free time. The girls and I get along very well and it’s been fun to get to know everyone better these past four weeks. During quality time, sometimes we all just sit and talk to each other while we get ready for bed- and these are some of the best parts of the day.

Next year I hope all of the apprentices and job coaches come back, because I’m going to miss them! I hope everyone has a good summer!

Chug-A-Lug by Emma

My two weeks as an apprentice is over.  I am going to miss all of the exciting things that I get to do at camp.  There is such a variety of jobs and activities to attend that I never get bored and I can’t wait to come back next year.  Being an apprentice is about being independent of going to our jobs on time. Also walking to programs all by ourselves. We get to use our cell phones to communicate with our job coaches.  My favorite part of being an apprentice is getting to work at camp horizons.  I love being an assistant to the program counselors and I love being able to walk around camp and do jobs that keep camp running.

Last night I won the chug-a-lug award.  I drink a lot of water all day during activities and jobs to stay hydrated.  My job coaches told our unit leader how awesome I have been doing and how I have been a great role model drinking water and I won the award.  Everyone was screaming my name in the dining hall and I got to chug an entire glass of water in front of the whole entire camp!
